Balance is Essential. Good and Evil are Labels.

Goodness, when boundless, becomes harmful. What society calls virtue often turns into a trap. Good and evil are not absolute; they take shape according to balance.

Empathy or Emotional Surrender?

Empathy is healthy, but when boundaries fade, it becomes surrender. Feeling another’s pain as your own does not solve their problem; it only exhausts you. True goodness means understanding and supporting, not carrying someone else’s suffering.

The Dark Side of the Savior Role

Constantly playing the savior is a delusion: “Without me, everything falls apart.” This role makes you dependent on others’ problems and prevents them from developing their own skills. Real help empowers the other person.

Traces of the Past

Excessive responsibility is often learned in childhood. Children who carry their parents’ emotional burdens, who mediate conflicts, grow up believing love is earned only through giving. Unless this pattern is recognized, they live their lives in the shadow of others.

Society’s Personality Factory

Society produces extreme types: “super” givers on one side, and “passive” or “spoiled” individuals on the other. These extremes feed each other. Praise becomes a chain that binds the giver to self-sacrifice. A healthy society, however, is built on balanced individuals who know their limits.

Goodness is Not Self-Sacrifice; It is Balance

Self-sacrifice, when constant, depletes you, makes relationships one-sided, and weakens the other person. True goodness is a balanced exchange where both giver and receiver stay whole. The measure of goodness is not how much you give, but how well you remain standing.

Setting Boundaries is True Goodness

Setting boundaries is not selfishness; it is the foundation of genuine care. Saying “no” strengthens respect, it does not weaken relationships. Giving others space to find their own solutions is the greatest contribution to their growth. Boundaries prevent goodness from spiraling out of control.

Goodness is life’s most precious necessity. But do not look at the label; look at the balance. What appears as goodness can harm, and what appears as selfishness can be true kindness. When you find balance, goodness becomes its truest self.

Stay well
